I’ve been using the OPPO A79 5G for exactly 2 weeks now and this is actually the 1st time I have used any OPPO phone. It’s nice to try a different brand once in a while. This model is available in 2 shades – Dazzling Purple & Mystery Black. My review unit is Dazzling Purple, my preferred colour as purple is a beautiful and majestic shade. Dazzling Purple has a glowing feather design which makes it even more unique than the black option.
At just 193g and 7.99mm, the phone feels and looks stylish. There’s a heft to this phone which makes it look more expensive and premium than its price. On the stunning back cover of Dazzling Purple, the design of the rear camera area takes its inspiration from mechanical watches, presenting a luxurious dial design with a reflective texture within an oval panel decorative area. This unique flourish helps to create a sense of depth and a 3D effect that reflects light and shadow in different ways when viewed from multiple ngles. The rear camera area is truly exceptional in its design and to me, makes the phone worth its price.
With a large 6.72” FHD+ Sunlight Display and powerful 680 nits peak brightness, it’s easy to read and browse content with exceptional clarity even under the bright midday sun. The high 1080 × 2400 esolution and support for a 100% DCI-P3 color gamut also deliver substantially enhanced color saturation and color accuracy for more impactful visuals with greater realism and more vibrant colors.
What I am MOST impressed with is the battery. Never had a phone with such long-lasting battery as it doesn’t even lose 1% overnight or when I take continuous photos for a few minutes. It’s really quite amazing and extraordinary that the battery is this good. It has a large 5,000mAh Battery with 33W SUPERVOOCTM flash charge which gives 448 hours of standby, 26 hours of phone calls, 14 hours of YouTube videos AND 6 hours of PUBG play on one full charge.
Not only that, it is also impressive how fast it charges as it only takes 5 minutes to 11% & 74 minutes to 100%. A 5-minute charge allows for 2.6 hours of phone calls or 1.4 hours of YouTube videos. It’s so fast to achieve fully charged status that one can forget that it’s already fully charged. This phone’s battery is what I would like for all my future phones.
If you often use your phone to watch videos or listen to music (like me), then you will be pleased with the sound quality as it has dual stereo speakers and ultra volume mode up to 300% which means you can hear clearly even in the noisiest of environments.
For a phone without a premium price tag, I find the camera quality remarkable as the images are super clear. It has a 50MP AI Camera with Ultra-Clear 108MP Image and creative portrait feature suite. You can expect ultra-clear, ultra-high-resolution imaging.
Having used this phone for the last 2 weeks, I am rather loving the quality especially the long-lasting battery and camera. The 3rd feature that really appeals to me is the design of the back of the phone, so beautiful in feathery pastel purple!
