Economical Organic Products : Himalaya Organique

There seems to be a growing trend towards natural or organic products. Himalaya’s latest range of skincare, bodycare and haircare is called “Himalaya® Organique”. It has been ECOCERT certified which means that it satisfied the criteria such as a minimum of 95% of ingredients are natural, the product contains no GMOs, parabens, phenoxyethanol, ingredients derived from petrochemicals or synthetic chemistry. Also, the packaging and outer packaging must be biodegradable or recyclable.

Himalaya® Organique skincare consists of 3 types of face wash (Purifying Neem, Hydrating & Invigorating), a face scrub, 2 moisturisers and a lip balm. Many varieties of plants are used in the products in line with the holistic and botanical science of Ayurveda which is the very foundation of the Organique range.

The face wash and face scrub are packaged in 150ml long, green tubes with a red cap at the bottom (this seems to be a common feature in organic products). These products do not contain SLS & SLES, parabens, phthalates, artificial colours and synthetic fragrances. I’ve been passed the Purifying Neem Face Wash & Exfoliating Walnut Face Scrub for the purpose of this review.

(1) Purifying Neem Face Wash

This is a soap-free face wash which is formulated using organic herbs, essential oils and natural extracts. It’s not a make-up remover but I do use it to remove make-up (quite effectively too, I must add). It feels slightly cool and has a gel texture. It is meant for oily skins but it didn’t feel drying on my skin. It’s to be used on damp skin and washed off by adding water gradually.

I thought this face wash would smell herbal and I might not like it but the scent is pleasant and not too strong. I’d enjoy using this face wash on a daily basis. A gel textured face wash is a good alternative to foaming cleansers as my tend-towards-dry-skin can do without too much foam.

The main ingredients are neem leaf extract which is a natural detoxifier and helps purify the skin, turmeric root oil which helps support healthy and radiant skin and natural Vitamin E which is a natural antioxidant made from vegetable oils.

(2) Exfoliating Walnut Face Wash

A gentle scrubs which contains extracts of Walnut and Woodapple, this one contains fine granules and has a lovely scent. I liked this scrub very much as it’s gentle on my skin and I liked leaving it on my face for a while like a mask because of the scent.

After washing off this scrub, my face felt soft and smooth but not extremely so. As I said, it’s really rather gentle and probably mild too.

Overall Comment

The good thing about these products is that they can be used by both sexes. All the skincare products (face wash, face scrub and moisturisers) are priced at RM39.90. I’d say that is pretty economical for organically certified products.

Note : The products were provided by Himalaya® for review.
