Dermalogica has launched the new and improved Multivitamin Power Serum, an extension to their AGE Smart® range. This potent serum is ideal for daytime use as a counterpart to the AGE Smart® Overnight Repair Serum. This new version draws its efficacy from a ‘hero’ ingredient known as Hydroxypinacolone Retinoate (HPR) which is able to intercept the earliest signs of aging, including sun-damaged skin. As we grow older, our skin loses the ability to produce more collagen which is essential in maintaining skin elasticity and resilience.
Present at the launch was Dr. Diana Howard, Vice President of Research & Development for Dermalogica and The International Dermal Institute. The new Multivitamin Power Serum was launched in the U.S. 5 months ago. Dr. Howard explained the science behind the creation of the new serum – the benefits of the HPR ingredient have been enhanced by the next generation in liposomal preparation technique, an advanced laboratory process that increases the potency and efficacy of the formula. She said that peptides and vitamins are the best ingredients in anti-aging skincare and the new serum contains Vitamins A, C, E and F.
Dr. Howard pointed out that all women above 35 suffer from dehydrated skin and to avoid our skin getting more dehydrated, we should not sleep with the air-con on (how I wish that was possible in our climate). She switches off the air-con when she enters her hotel room and fills up the bath tub, leaving a note for the cleaning staff to request them not to let out the water. The water in the tub evaporates and this helps improve the hydration level. Very useful tip!
She added that unlike earlier iterations of retinol (Vitamin A) and its by-products, the HPR in this serum would not trigger redness or irritation. In fact, it readily stimulates cell-turnover, while inhibiting enzymes that would degrade collagen and elastin, thus maintaining the youthful spring in one’s skin.
The Vitamins A, C, E and F boost cell-turnover, reduce hyperpigmentation and ensure a smoother surface appearance for the skin. Dehydration causes skin scaling so we must always keep our skin as hydrated as possible.
