Generally, I stay away from matte lipsticks as they tend to be quite dry and uncomfortable even if they are more long-wearing than other textures. Of course if you need your lipstick to stay on all night because you won’t be able to re-apply, then you’d need a matte lipstick.
Burberry Beauty has 12 new matte lipsticks called Lip Velvet. I tried one of them (Redwood) and to my surprise, it wasn’t as dry as I expected. I didn’t test it for 8 hours (it’s supposed to last that long) but it does stay on lips even after I have had a drink. The lipstick case is a matte gunmetal.
Lip Velvet has 4 colour families – reds, browns, corals and pinks. I seem to have omitted to swatch the reds but you can check out all the shades here.
302, 303 and 304 are the most popular shades among Burberry Beauty customers here and I can see why. 304 Redwood is my favourite of the 12 shades. Any shade catch your eye?
