While waiting for the Khoon Hooi Spring/Summer 2017 Showcase to start at APW Bangsar, I noticed a crowd downstairs. Firstly, people were queuing up for the Mimpikita sale and secondly, there was a flea market where beauty products, clothes and other interesting stuff were available.
One of the booths I stopped at was Serasi Handmade and at the booth was Intan, founder of the brand. Intan has a full-time job but still finds the time and energy to make some fabulous natural toiletries and skincare such as soaps, serum, cleanser, lip balm/tint, face masks, deodorants etc. Most of the products come in cute little tins or bottles.
The deodorant is a non-chemical cream which contains pure essential oils such as tea tree, coconut and hempseed oils. Also contains peppermint, patchouli and cedarwood.
There are 3 types of Facial Masks, Green Beans, Goji Berries and Fresh Strawberries & Argan Oil. The Fresh Strawberries Mask is made with real strawberries to exfoliate dead skin cells, remove excess sebum, brighten and plump up skin. Also contains oats to help soothe sensitive skin and Argan Oil that has anti-oxidant properties to ease inflammation and provide moisture. The addition of Grapefruit and Geranium essential oils help to further clarify skin and improve blood circulation.
Serasi Handmade soaps are made using the cold process method, takes 3 months to cure so Intan is finding it hard to keep up with demand. Each batch of soap is prepared using nourishing oils, natural colouring from roots, herbs and essential oils that give the most naturally pleasing scents. The Carrot & Honey Soap is made of fresh carrot juice with its natural orange colour from the palm fruit oil used and scented with Rosemary & Tea Tree Oils. Can be used as a gentle facial cleanser and body bar.
The Exfoliating Face Cleanser cleanses and exfoliates skin at the same time. The exfoliation comes from the almond powder and oatbran. Bentonite clay is added to pull out impurities from skin.
Soothing Face Cleanser is in powder form and contains Organic Oats soothing for dry, flaky and itchy skin. Bentonite Clay when in contact with water, charges electricity and draws out toxins, i.e. draws out impurities.
Face & Bod.y Cream has a rose scent (it has essentials oils of rose, geranium and lavender) and it contains infused organic dried rose petals, nourishing oils of avocado, mango butter and rosehip oil
Fast absorbing cream targeted for dry skin and to reduce stretch marks. Has a delightful citrus scent from pure essential oils of Orange, Lemon, Grapefruit and Peppermint. This cooling cream contains Unrefined Shea Butter and avocado oil.
