Breakout Avenue K

Back for more Breakout sessions, this time at their Avenue K outlet. Oh yes, maybe I am a little addicted to these reality puzzle-solving games but even if you fail at one or should I say especially if you fail at one, you will want to play more games until you succeed.

The Breakout themes are so interesting and this time, my team started with “Chamber of Hocus” which is about Mr. Hocus, a notorious criminal who dabbles in the art of magic and uses it in his crimes. Mr. Hocus has again escaped unscathed from a heist. The hallmark of all his crimes are playing cards bearing the message ‘Hocus Pocus, can you find Hocus?’ He is known to be a dangerous man with a wicked sense of humour. We went on a search for this wanted magician and stumbled into his mysterious Chamber of Hocus in hopes of capturing him once and for all. “Chamber of Hocus” is the prequel to “The Secret of Hocus” which is the latest theme at Breakout Nu Sentral.

Without going into specifics because I don’t want to give away the game at all to aspiring “Chamber of Hocus” gamers, this game is tricky and in every aspect, there is more than meets the eye. You have to read the clues very carefully and be extremely observant of everything in the room as details are everything in this mind-boggling game.

The clues are not obvious at all, you might think the clues are there right in front of your eyes but you have to read deeper into the clues. All this while, the music seems to become more suspenseful and before we knew it, we ran out of time! We were unsuccessful in capturing/locating Mr. Hocus, the wily magician had outsmarted us. I would say this was quite a challenging game and we were impressed with how genius the clues were.

On to the next game “Project Fallout” which has a 2 out of 5 difficulty level so we thought we had to succeed in this one. Much more straightforward compared to the previous game but it has its own set of challenges which requires logical thinking.

In “Project Fallout”, you wake up to find that you have no memory of who or where you are, but you are being interrogated by unknown authorities about a weapon you have no recollection of. You heard the authorities say that you wiped out your own memory before their arrival. Now you know that you have to breakout from their captivity and find out who you are, and what happened.

Yup, after much discussion on what the correct code could be to break out of that room, we managed to succeed in escaping within 45 minutes with 1 second to spare. Now that was adrenalin pumping every step of the way. So exciting! We earned badges based on the characters we took on in “Project Fallout”.

Would I do it all over again at Breakout? I sure would, this time I’d love to go back to Breakout Nu Sentral and try the other games and hopefully succeed at the 3 out of 5 difficulty level games.
