The Little Nyonya Cuisine Pavilion

P1300525(1)

Ever since The Little Nyonya Cuisine Pavilion opened, I have been wanting to visit and now I have had lunch there twice. It’s always crowded at lunch time on weekdays, less so on weekends because there’s no office crowd. However as busy as they are, service is prompt and one is ushered to a table within a few minutes of waiting and once you have ordered, the dishes and drinks are brought to your table within 15 minutes which is not bad when they are at full house capacity.

The menu is rather extensive and even though they focus on Peranakan cuisine (what else, you can guess from the name of the restaurant), they also offer a variety of Cheese Baked Rice and Spaghetti, Western food and Ramen. So if you have a hankering for Peranakan food but are with people who would rather have Ramen or Western food, this is the place to bring them to.

Prices of the rice dishes are RM11.80 which is reasonable for a restaurant in a mall like Pavilion. If you ate any rice dishes in the food court, chances are you’d be paying around RM10 anyway. The Nasi Lemak Otak-Otak was nice but there was hardly any fish in the Otak-Otak. The nasi lemak was fragrant and fluffy though.

As for the Nasi Dagang, I found it a bit too oily. Not excessively so but still too oily for me. The curry chicken was the redeeming factor. Thick curry with tender chicken. I would have preferred this with white rice and they do have that option incidentally.

Prices are subject to 10% service tax and 6% GST.
