Available this month at Kiehl’s is an interesting product, the Micro-Blur Skin Perfector. It’s not a moisturizer or serum. I guess it falls under the category of treatment? This is a multi-benefit product,a lightweight skin-smoothing formula that provides both an immediate blurring effect to visibly transform the look of skin in seconds and an improvement of pores and skin texture over time.
It feels like a primer because skin is instantly smoother and pores look less obvious but this isn’t marketed as a primer. While primers have short-term benefits as they minimize the appearance of pores only for the duration the primer is on skin, Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector has long-term benefits as it’s a skincare product.
It’s not as thick as it looks and despite the colour, it goes on sheer. It’s actually very easy to apply on to skin, there’s no waxy feeling and I can feel the difference immediately as my skin feels a lot smoother once it’s been absorbed and foundation/BB Cream goes on so much easier when this is on. You can either apply it before or after your BB Cream but I apply it before because it provides such a smooth canvas but there is no artificial smoothness like I get with some other primers. It doesn’t feel silicone-like, that’s what I am trying to say I guess.
The formula contains light reflectors to visibly transform skin, creating a smooth, pristine complexion. It provides long-term results thanks to Lipo Hydroxy Acid (LHA) and lentil extract. In the past few weeks since using this product, I can feel and see an improvement in my skin, it’s much smoother and pores look less obvious.
Micro-Blur Skin Perfector is engineered as a water-based emulsion to make it extremely lightweight on skin. The result is a non-heavy texture and healthy-looking finish. I can’t ask for much more in a primer effect skincare. Because of Bark Extract in this product, skin texture is smoother.
The product can be used throughout the day, twice daily is recommended. Use over UV protection and/or before/after foundation/BB Cream and as the last step of your skincare regimen at night.
The only thing that takes some getting used to is the scent. I am not sure if it’s because of the lentil and bark extracts but maybe the scent is not botanical. I find the scent quite strong and reminds me of something chemical so if they can improve on this aspect, I think this would be quite the perfect product for smoother/poreless looking skin.
Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector retails at RM110/30ml. Price is very reasonable for the quality! This product is very similar to the Dermalogica AgeSmart SkinPerfect Primer SPF30 which also promises long-term benefits but the difference is the price and the Kiehl’s Micro-Blur Skin Perfector feels less artificially smooth.

Hmm… got to remember to go try this the next time I’m near a Kiehl’s store… Always having to deal with shiny face after applying sunblock is really annoying when people think your face is “naturally” oily -_-
