The Re-Launch Of Kogetsu

Cutting the ribbon at the re-launch

Japanese restaurants are my favourite place to be as the food presentation is spectacular and often I find myself admiring the way it looks on the plate. Of course they (more often than not) taste as wonderful as they look. Kogetsu, the restaurant known for quality and great authentic Japanese cuisine threw a re-launch cocktail party last night to reveal spanking new equipments in its signature open kitchen, a glass bar showcasing the best sakes and shoju and a new sushi counter after being closed for a month.

Guests and loyal patrons of Kogetsu were treated to a variety of cocktails and canapés which resident Japanese chef, Taketoshi Minami was delighted to serve throwing in a few new items from the menu. The ribbon cutting ceremony took place with Saujana Hotels & Resorts General Manager & Vice President of Operations, Mr. Peter J. Hourigan and his management team on hand to symbolize the opening and the evening continued with entertainers.

From the sampling offered to guests last night, I’d say the tempura was a bit oily and the sushi wasn’t particularly memorable but the grilled unagi was simply awesome and a must-have. I had quite a few sticks of the grilled unagi and was a bit disappointed that they seemed to have run out while there was still plenty of tempura left.

While the new items were prominent in certain areas of the restaurant, Kogetsu maintained much of its traditional charm of dark wood furniture, flooring and paper lantern lightings. For dining reservations and enquiries, call (03) 7843 1234 or email dine@thesaujana.com
