Mentholatum Introduces Skin Aqua UV Protect Face Cream SPF30PA+++

There was a time when I wasn’t as diligent with applying sunscreen as I am now. I guess with advancing age comes an increasing awareness of all the factors that can accelerate the aging process and that includes UVA rays. UVA is often overlooked because it doesn’t have immediate effects unlike UVB rays which cause sunburn.

UVA is able to penetrate deeper into the layers of the skin and lead to premature signs of aging such as fine lines and wrinkles. Mentholatum’s new Sun Aqua UV Protect Face Cream SPF30PA+++ protects skin from broad spectrum harmful UV rays and claims to have moisturizing, brightening, hydrating and firming properties.

Skin Aqua UV Protect Face Cream SPF30PA+++ is water based and formulated by using natural ingredients such as the red, brown algae extract which is both moisturising and has a sebum control function with soothing effects and Vegewhite, a whitening formulation that uses a combination of natural skin whitening agents.

This sunscreen is quite lightweight and even though it has a creamy consistency, it isn’t terribly thick. It absorbs very quickly into skin without any whitish cast. It is free from mineral oil and touted to not clog pores. It does not contain fragrance either.

As I don’t use this sunscreen everyday and I apply skincare, I can’t confirm if this sunscreen will eventually whiten and firm up skin but I will say that it is rather hydrating, feels like I have applied moisturiser and perhaps it really can lock-in the skin’s natural moisture level as claimed.

This sunscreen will be available at all leading pharmacies and major supermarket outlets at RM32.90 for 35g starting 1st July, 2012.
