Collistar’s International Makeup Artist and Trainer, Patrick Havegheer was in town a few days ago in conjunction with the launch of Collistar’s Spring/Summer 2012 Capri Collection and to demonstrate the Capri makeup look at MidValley on Saturday night. There was a special makeup demo for invited media at one of Sasa’s outlets prior to the public makeup demo. Patrick has more than a decade of makeup experience prior to working with Collistar as he was formerly with Versace and YSL Beaute. His work has graced the pages of magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan and Elle. Currently travelling around the world and based in Hong Kong, Patrick has a huge background and specialty in making up Asian faces.
Some of Patrick’s makeup tips:-

When using a concealer with a sponge applicator, use fingers to blend it in and not directly on to skin with the applicator.

There’s no right or wrong tool to use for applying foundation, you can use sponge, brush or fingers but Patrick prefers to use fingers.

You can mix foundation with skincare.

Tap off excess loose powder before applying to face.

Do not apply eye shadow below eye contour or else eyes will look droopy.

Eye shadow can be applied with fingers using dabbing motions.

Liquid eyeliner doesn’t have to be applied in a single motion, it can be applied little by little.

For a dramatic look, use green/blue mascara. For a classic look, use black mascara. For a natural look, use brown mascara.

Best to look matte and a little glowing for day time look as face can look shiny in the day. Save the sparkle for night.

Apply powder over blush if you have accidentally applied too much blush.

Contour face with bronzing powder on sides of face and temples.

Do the eyebrows last as shape of eyebrows can change after you’ve applied eye shadows.
And some sage advice from Patrick : the way you do your makeup can affect the way you look – people might think you are angry when you are actually feeling very happy inside! So be cautious when applying eye shadow so as people can gauge your mood by looking at your eyes.
