Day 3 of ikhlas.com 7D/5N Tour To Turkey: Lunch In Çavuşin In Avanos District, Nevşehir Province, Cappadocia

St John The Baptist is set into the rock, a must-visit

Time to stop for lunch on Day 3 of our ikhlas.com tour to Turkey and we were in Çavuşin In Avanos District, Nevşehir Province, Cappadocia. As soon as we alighted from the bus, we saw a magnificent church called St John The Baptist Church towering above on a cliff. We could see visitors walking around the church and I really wanted to join them, but we were only there for lunch, not to climb up for a panoramic view of the town or to admire this ancient church from the inside. Note to self: come back here on my 2nd trip to Cappadocia.

Çavuşin is a very charming town and we walked a little uphill to get to the restaurant where we were to have lunch. Along the way, we saw a few friendly and cute cats hanging around the restaurant. I had one of my better Turkish meals here. The yoghurt soup was the best I have had in Turkey, the most memorable anyway. I did ask for a bit more as I love anything with yoghurt in it.

Too bad there wasn’t enough time to visit this incredible church
The cutest cats are in Turkey
Waiter presenting the beef stew
This yoghurt soup is so good
Beef Stew with rice and a token amount of Fries
I so wanted to take kitty home
Such pretty lamps in the shape of hot air balloons

Lunch at this restaurant was better than average. After half a day of visiting the must-see sites of Cappadocia, we were all famished. The beef stew was good quality but I could have done with a bit more in terms of quantity haha! On the way back to the bus, most of us stopped by a souvenir shop where prices were reasonable.
