Staycation At Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur

At Oakwood’s lobby

Strategically located along Jalan Ampang, on Embassy Row, Oakwood Hotel and Residence Kuala Lumpur offers 251 elegantly furnished hotel rooms and serviced apartments for business, leisure travelers and families seeking a tranquil sanctuary amidst a bustling city. About 3 weeks ago, I had a one-night staycation there in their 50sqm 1-Bedroom Deluxe.

Oakwood is under the Ascott Group and they are the first hotel chain in Malaysia to have been certified by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) across all 14 operating properties. As such, all hotels under the Ascott Group are committed to minimising environmental impact such as doing away with single use plastics. There are no water bottles in Oakwood’s rooms as each room is equipped with a 3M water filter. Also, air conditioning is set with a minimum temperature of 24C. This measure not only promotes energy efficiency but contributes to preserving mother earth for future generations.

The lobby is not air-conditioned like most other hotels but it is very airy and you can feel the breeze as you sit at the lobby. Checking-in was fast and at the time I stayed there, there were a lot of foreign tourists as well as international sports teams. Despite the location not being near tourist attractions, this is a very popular hotel.

Checking in is fast
A room with a view
Living area is separate from the sleeping area and you can watch tv here
Comfortable king-sized bed
There’re seats for more than 2 people
3M Water Filter
Bathroom
Egg station is popular for breakfast @ trEat Restaurant

In the bathroom, there are 2 bottles of shampoo and body wash but no bar of soap at the sink which is somewhat inconvenient as one has to open the shower door and pump out body wash to wash hands. The bathroom is spacious though and has an excellent shower.

This was a very enjoyable staycation for the following reasons:

1. My floor was quiet.

2. The bed gave me a good night’s sleep,

3. Location is good as Oakwood is a few minutes’ drive from popular malls within a 5km radius.

4. Breakfast was adequate and the omelets delicious.

5. If you have to park, you just pay a one-off fee daily and you can go in and out as many times as you like within the same day.

Oakwood is located at 222, Jalan Ampang, KL. It is a pet-friendly hotel and they offer a variety of rooms to accommodate all sizes and types of pets. It also provides pet beds, water bowls and snacks for your fur child, plus a long-stay package option.
