Malaysia’s legendary mall – Sungei Wang Plaza, one of the longest running malls in Malaysia that surpassed over many decades is now coming alive with a completely brand-new outlook after undergoing the fourth massive refurbishment project which commenced since 2017.
On 15th January 2022, Sungei Wang Plaza launched its “glistening gold” look that represents themselves as a “Beauty & Experiential Mall” offering differentiated retail and exciting experiential activities such as indoor rock-climbing gym, indoor adventure park, indoor drift kart, heritage miniature museum and more.
“Being one of the pioneer malls in Malaysia, despite all the challenges and defiance in this competitive and fast-paced environment and market shifting, we have been continuously in the pursuit of progress in keeping ourselves relevant to the retail industry,” says Chairman of Sungei Wang Plaza Management Corporation, Mr Ng Yih Chen.
The Launch was officiated by Yang Berhormat Senator Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker, Deputy Minister of Youth & Sports; Mr Ng Yih Chen, Chairman of Sungei Wang Plaza Management Corporation and attended by Mr Abdul Rauf Abu Hassan, Director of Package Development Division of Tourism Malaysia; Mr Carter Lim, Treasurer of Sungei Wang Plaza Management Corporation; Members of Sungei Wang Plaza Management Corporation – Mr Lawrence Teh, and Ms Michelle Siew; Mr Winnie Lim, Property Manager of Sungei Wang Plaza and Mr Joseph Teo, Centre Manager of Sungei Wang Plaza.

The launch also initiated the first edition of Sungei Wang Plaza National Traditional Lion Dance from 15 to 16 January 2022 at the Main Entrance, which will see a total of 21 renowned lion dance associations across the nation competing for the champion title.
Roaring into the year of Tiger, Sungei Wang Plaza invites everyone to relish in the moment of festivities “The Fantasy of Taiko” at Sungei Wang Plaza, featuring exciting celebrations to experience a Kawaii New Year 2022 with hopes of good health and prosperity through the mall’s decorations, redemption and an abundance of performances from now until 20 February 2022.
Themed “The Fantasy of Taiko”, a sign for people to be energized with power, boldness and predilection in this year’s Chinese New Year; the mall has been transformed into a “Kawaii’ concept Chinese New Year filled with Red Chinese lanterns, flower blossom trees, gold ingots and vibrant red decorations. An auspicious Kawaii tiger playing a big drum will greet you in front of the newly renovated main entrance to welcome every shopper with its aura of festivity at Sungei Wang Plaza.
