Sungei Wang Plaza Halloween Treats : Snips College Of Creative Arts (SCCA)

Since I do blog mainly about beauty products and services (although I would love to gravitate towards other topics), it was certainly nice to see Snips College Of Creative Arts (SCCA) on our itinerary during the Sungei Wang Plaza Halloween Treats Tour last week.

Snips College Of Creative Arts (SCCA) is located on Level 6 of Sungei Wang Plaza and is a lot bigger than I expected. The management had really thrown a red carpet welcome for us as they’d kept to the Halloween theme throughout the college. Firstly, the lights were off in the corridor creating and evoking a spooky ambiance, the music could have been from a horror movie and in the makeup room, some people were having Halloween makeup done. They’d even prepared a Halloween buffet spread for us. I was very impressed by the trouble they’d taken to welcome us.

SCCA has a hair salon and anyone can be a customer. On weekdays during non-peak hours, they offer a 60% discount on hair colouring services so it is highly affordable and you will be attended to by professionals, not the students.

They were very nice to offer me a hair makeover. It was done by one of SCCA’s trainers, Sam.

Founder of SCCA, Dato’ Mike Loh dropped by to meet us.

SCCA offers many courses and according to Dato’ Mike, they aim to be dream makers. Whatever a student wants to study in the creative field, SCCA offers them all from nail art, face art, modeling, hairdressing, photography, fashion design, filming production, salon management, mass communication to retail business management. SCCA has received many accolades in various categories – Top Academy Award, Best Student Award-Makeup and 1st Runner-Up Best Student Award-Hair in the recent APHCA National Hair & Makeup Competition Award 2015.

We visited the area where the students are taught dress-making skills and it reminded me of “Project Runway” set. If they told me that Tim Gunn was going to appear, I would have believed them.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable visit to SCCA. I could see that the college is well equipped and I found the Halloween face art mighty interesting and would love to try getting transformed by the talented makeup artists of SCCA.
