You Might Turn A Whiter Shade Of Pale At Hauntu But It’s Definitely An Unforgettable Spooky Experience

Welcome to Hauntu @ The Linc KL
Welcome to Hauntu @ The Linc KL

Adrenaline pumping? Check. Spine tingling? Check. Heart racing? Check. Eyes dilated? Check. Suspense building? Check. If you are experiencing all these symptoms, that could only mean one thing. You are at Hauntu, KL’s immersive spooky experience like no other. Not just your average haunted house, Hauntu blends live theatre performance, role play and storytelling to bring participants an experience they are not likely to forget in a hurry.

There’s no lack of entertainment in KL but Hauntu (which takes place in a hotel setting) is a few notches above the rest as you get so much value packed in an hour. The whole ambiance and immersion into the storyline is so realistic as you feel like you have a role to play here. The level of professionalism from the staff and actors is commendable. You get to experience a haunting par excellence as well as get into character as you follow your guide (the hotel staff) from room to room making decisions that will determine the outcome of your story (this makes the whole experience so unique too).

Hauntu has all the elements that make for the best entertainment one can experience. As soon as you step into the Colle Eastern Hotel, the suspense builds up thanks to all the realistic props and staff in costumes from the 50s. Currently, Hauntu is on Episode 2 titled “The Tourist”. The previous episode which ended in June this year was “The Thief”. There will be an Episode 3 in a few months. Although each episode is not linked, you will discover the secret behind the hotel when you have played all 3 episodes.

So the storyline for each episode is in a different time line. While Episode 1 was in the 80s, Episode 2 is in the 50s and to be more specific, you and your group check into the hotel on 31st August 1957 which of course is the historic Merdeka Day.

Episode 2:

Having not received a word from your brother in a very long time, you were pleasantly surprised when a letter arrived in the mail inviting you and some friends to spend Merdeka Day at the Colle Eastern Hotel where he works. You arrive at the hotel at 1 am in the morning, weary from a full day of travel, and overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of the city befitting such a momentous occasion. You want nothing more than to settle in for a good night’s rest in your hotel bed when things take a sinister and horrifying turn, giving you and your friends a night you will long to forget…

After checking in at reception and allocated rooms, you’ll be ushered into a dimly lit café and welcome drinks are served. Then you wait for the bellboy to usher you to your rooms and that’s when the horror story unfolds. Of course there’s going to be screams no matter how prepared you are for the sudden appearance of the ghouls but it’s so fun and if you are in a bigger group, you take comfort in the fact that there’re friends around you and that no matter what ghoul you encounter round the corner, you are all in it together. It’s al for one and one for all here, LOL!

Every group will have a different outcome based on their decision making during the experience so that makes visitors want to visit again and again for the different endings. It’s no surprise that some visitors do visit multiple times for the same episode. Everyone in my group were unanimous and fulsome in their praise for Hauntu and everyone wants to go back again.
