Graduation & Certificate Presentation Ceremony For First Batch Of Students – Professional Certificate In Hairdressing Full Course ECOHAIR ACADEMY & Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)

ECOHAIR ACADEMY, based in Bayan Lepas, Penang, is proud to be the first hairdressing centre and academy in Malaysia to establish an educational collaboration with Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). This partnership, formed through UTAR’s Centre for Corporate and Community Development (CCCD), led to the development of the Professional Certificate in Hairdressing Full Course (PCIHFC).The course commenced in June last year at ECOHAIR ACADEMY, with a total of 10 students enrolled. All of them have completed the course and were awarded a Certificate of Completion accredited by CCCD.

This collaboration also signifies that ECOHAIR ACADEMY itself is now officially recognised by UTAR CCCD – a groundbreaking milestone for the Malaysian hairdressing industry. More importantly, this marks the first time in Malaysian history that the hairdressing field is receiving academic endorsement from a prestigious university like UTAR.

As many are no doubt aware, the majority of hairdressers, salon operators and students of hairdressing in Malaysia have long been working without any form of formal academic certification.

This breakthrough will not only allow students to receive accreditation from a reputable and and internationally recognised university, but also open up more entrepreneurial and employment opportunities, especially for young members of the Chinese community.

In celebration of this achievement, ECOHAIR ACADEMY and UTAR hosted a Graduation & Certificate Presentation Ceremony for the first batch of students who completed the programme on 9th June, 2025. The ceremony marked a major milestone for ECOHAIR ACADEMY. It not only celebrates the successful completion of the programme by ECOHAIR ACADEMY’s first batch of students and the awarding of CCCD, UTar ensorsed professional certificates – it also represents a a significant step forward in the professionalisation of Malaysia’s hairdressing industry through structured education.
