Estée Lauder Matte Perfecting Primer & Illuminating Perfecting Primer

Whether we have oily or dry skin, we can still benefit from using primers before foundation. Primers can generally provide a smooth, even canvas for foundation and make foundations last longer. Oily skin types can choose primers for oil-control and to keep skin matte all day while dry skin types can choose primers which provide hydration and give a dewy finish.

This year, Estée Lauder introduced 2 primers : Matte Perfecting Primer & Illuminating Perfecting Primer. Both comes in squeeze tubes, packaging looks quite sleek. The Matte Perfecting Primer is for oily and normal/combination skin types as its oil-free formula controls oil thus reducing shine. The Illuminating Perfecting Primer is for normal/combination and dry skin types as it contains special hydrators and skin-soothing Vitamin E. The formula adds instant brightness and radiance so makeup looks smooth, fresh, flawless. It also contains soft-reflection optics to minimize the look of pores and flaws.

As you can see from the images above, the matte version does not have any shimmer to it while you can see the soft-reflection optics in the illuminating version whether blended or unblended. It’s these optics that give skin a certain glow and iridescence. I have a small sample of the Illuminating Perfecting Primer and I have to say I like it for the smooth texture. It feels like a soft cream, hydrates my skin and gives it a healthy radiance. Another plus point is that it doesn’t have that artificial silicone feel.

Both primers retail at RM118.
