Although I am a rather frequent visitor to Pavilion, I had forgotten exactly where Illy Caffe is and had to ask concierge for directions. It is right at the end of Fashion Avenue on L3 and if you use the bridge to KLCC, you will surely spot it. There is quite a lot of seating inside and you get table service. The menu isn’t pages and pages long. It’s one page for food and another for drinks.

I have not seen any cafe offering cappuccino viennese before so I definitely had to try it as I liked the description “Illy espresso cappuccino with a mountain of whipped cream dusted with cocoa.” The cup may be small but they weren’t kidding about the “mountain of whipped cream”. I had a feeling it would be superb even before I took the first sip. This coffee is incredibly good and combined with the mound of whipped cream, it was the best coffee I have had in a long time. Not at all bitter.

The cream sauce in the penne dish was thick and rich although there were only 2 pieces of chicken. They were more generous with the mushrooms. Could have done with a sprinkling of parmesan cheese. Nevertheless quite satisfying.

The star of this meal is the illymisu which has a generous amount of whipped cream in between the cookie and on top of it. The espresso made this dessert even more amazing and I even felt like licking the plate! It was that good.
