GLOSS!
Gloss Texture. Shine Mixing Medium. Clear Lipglass. Care Blends Essential Oils…a reflective finish on the skin, lids, high planes and lips this season is an essential accent.
A FULL BROW
Yes, it’s another season of citing Brooke Shields about brows, but what makes a brow feel contemporary now is a straighter, more masculine feel.
LASHES
…were still left off the agenda in many makeups (to inject an element of rawness that inevitably reads as “modern”) but more than we’ve seen in recent years a full lash is definitely BACK. Layer on the mascara, but think fluttery, not drag.
RUNAWAY RED LIPSTICK
Red lips take many guises and personalities this season (working the Tough-Love, Disco-Tech and Amber-Gris alike) but if there’s a must-have shade to pocket, it’s new Runaway Red (MAC Me Over Collection). “The perfect universal red,” explains Gordon Espinet.
WATERLINES
…are something that require attention nowadays. Key tendencies? Freshen them up with a slick of NC15/NW20 Chromagraphic Pencil, or inject them with a forward-thinking jolt of colour (take red at Jean Pierre Braganza, cobalt at Haider Ackermann).
THE RIGHT POWDER
Powder’s come a long way from simply mattifying. The most technologically advanced formulas allow a customized level of matteness. Key choices this season : Invisible loose powder to gently mattify the T-zone; Prep + Prime Transparent Finishing Powder to set foundation without cakey-ness; Studio Careblend Pressed Powder to set while retaining glow.
SCULPTING

It’s the precise subtleties of shape that always matter in terms of a makeup’s modernity. The most vital now? An elongated, pulled-out eye, a slightly rounded lip, a straighter brow and a low, boyish blush or contour.
