What’s the next best thing to a Suria Meriang Sdn. Bhd. Staff Sale? It’s elementary – another Suria Meriang Sdn. Bhd. Staff Sale, of course. This time, it was the turn of the lucky Penangites to enjoy the shopping spree yesterday and from what I hear from Juniper’s Penang correspondent, The Blue Flamingo who has also been to the Suria Meriang Sdn. Bhd. Staff Sale in KL in April, there were more choice products and bargains at the Penang sale. Could she be just a little bit biased because is a proud Penangite? Then again, I have to admit there seems to be a lot more Bobbi Brown make-up available at the Penang sale including a set of 3 lipsticks for RM100. There were also more Estee Lauder fragrance sets and Origins skincare sets including Plantscription and Dr. Andrew Weil sets.
For the first time ever, Suria Meriang Sdn. Bhd. brought its immensely popular Staff Sale to Penang and it was held at the Cititel Hotel in Penang at the Perdana Ballroom. Based on my past experiences from attending their staff sales in Kuala Lumpur, I decided to go there early as I had expected a very long queue and I had even anticipated that there would be people queuing there overnight!
Due to the light early morning rain, I got there at around 8.45a.m., slightly later than I had anticipated. To my surprise, I was amongst the first 15 in the short queue which was forming at the entrance to the Perdana Ballroom. Very soon after that more people arrived but at all material times everyone was queuing in an orderly manner and finally we were let in at around 9.55a.m.
Having been to the one in Kuala Lumpur which was held at the Renaissance Hotel on the 20th of April 2013, I must say that no doubt the Penang version was smaller than the one held at the Renaissance in KL but nevertheless, there was a very wide selection of products, and there were many products which was not in the sale in Kuala Lumpur but was available in Penang. As a testimony to this, my haul from the Penang sale today was definitely larger than the KL one in April. In my opinion, in general there was a better range of products in the Penang sale.
Well, let’s hope that the sale in Penang today was a roaring success so that the powers that be at Suria Meriang Sdn.Bhd. will decide to organize their sale in Penang on an annual basis from now onwards.
