Kanebo Lunasol Skin Fusing Powder Foundation

When it comes to foundations, some of us prefer liquid while some of us prefer powder textures. It all comes down to personal preference and what works best for your skin type. Good powder foundations should not look cakey and thick on skin, they should be just as good as liquid foundations. So far I haven’t had that much experience with powder foundations but I shall soon have as there are a few powder foundations pending review.

I thought I’d do the Lunasol Skin Fusing Powder Foundation review first as it’s in a few beauty boxes, past, present and future. I know which beauty box will contain this sample soon. My sample is in OC02 and was in one of last year’s beauty boxes. OC02 will be suitable for most yellow based fair skin tones and is a perfect match for my MAC NC20 skin tone.

I believe I had a sample of this powder foundation some years ago and was rather impressed with its quality, so much so I made a mental note to check the price at the counter. If memory serves me correctly, it’s about RM200 with the case and it’s slightly cheaper than that if you just get the refill. Still, it’s a hefty sum to pay but then again, it is Kanebo and their prices have increased quite a lot over the past few years. Yes, I do keep track of the prices even though I have not purchased much from this brand.

Other than the price, there is a lot to like about this powder foundation namely:-

1. Even without the use of a primer, it feels smooth on my skin and makes my skin look flawless without a heavy feel.

2. Coverage is medium but not cakey and doesn’t settle into fine lines.

3. Skin looks slightly brighter and less dull.

4. The look is very natural like a second skin effect.

5. This is as good as any of the best liquid foundations.

6. Stayed put on my skin all day without oxidising and I didn’t even apply a layer of loose powder over it.

7. So finely milled that skin feels much smoother with it on.

8. My skin looked matte and it even made my dark circles look less dark without a concealer.
