At the lobby of The Lisbon, Melaka
Most of my family and friends who visit Melaka will choose to stay in the city centre, within walking distance of Jonker Walk where there is so much to see or near the well-known attractions of Stadhuys and A Famosa. But what if you would like to stay in a serene and tranquil hotel, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet near enough to the city centre to drop by for some of Melaka’s famous and world-renowned Peranakan food? That’s where The Lisbon Melaka comes in as there are just 72 rooms across different categories. It is located about 2km from Jonker Walk so taking a Grab to and fro there will cost less than RM10 each way. This is the ideal resort to stay in to recharge and rewind.
As soon as I arrived a few days ago for my 1-night stay, my view was of the Strait of Malacca. You can smell a whiff of sea especially when the wind blows. The next view is of the rather picturesque and totally Instagrammable swimming pool where multiple photos from every angle is a must. This is the kind of resort where you can just chill and there is no stress whatsoever such as having to wait for the elevators since there are none or being disturbed during the night by other guests. Here, you can almost hear a pin drop as it is so quiet. Although I am very much a city person when it comes to vacations, sometimes a much- needed break away from commercial areas is just the thing I need to reboot.

Alma Cigar Lounge

No matter what category of room, I thought they were all beautifully and elegantly furnished with so much space. There is nothing worse than a cramped room for me and I do love amenities, as in the full set. Choose from Premier Courtyard, Premier Ocean, Lux Twin Ocean, Lux King Ocean, Lux Twin Courtyard, Lux King Courtyard, Prestige King Ocean, Prestige Double Queen Ocean, Lisbon Prestige, Lisbon Suite and the creme de la creme of rooms, Lisbon Majestic.
My room was really lovely which could fit 4 people comfortably. There was a fruit platter waiting for me. Ironing board and iron are provided in the wardrobe, plenty of space foe luggage. The bathroom has a bathtub with a hand-held shower and there is another rain shower. I could have spent ages soaking in the bathtub, which I did actually. It isn’t often that I get to indulge in a soak and whenever I get the chance, I do because it feels like a luxury.

For guests who do not wish to venture out (and who can blame them as The Lisbon has all the creature comforts), they can hang out at Alma Cigar Lounge situated at the Lobby or Festa which they can dine in from breakfast to dinner. Room service is also available. With such well-appointed rooms and great service from all the staff here, you would want to maximise your time here. I was very happy with my room as all I had to do to get to the pool was open my door. Without a doubt, the pool was my happiest place at the resort.
