Sunway Group accorded Gold in Malaysia’s Best Managed Companies for 2024 by Deloitte Private

Sunway Group has been named a Gold winner of Malaysia’s Best Managed Companies for 2024 by Deloitte Private, a division of leading global consulting company Deloitte.

Sunway is the only Malaysian conglomerate to have won the Best Managed award for four consecutive years, earning the Gold status that highlights the company’s sustained excellence and resilience in a rapidly evolving business landscape.

Best Managed Companies is a leading business awards programme sponsored by Deloitte Private.

Hosted across 46 countries worldwide, award nominees are evaluated based on four core pillars of strategy, culture and commitment, capabilities and innovation, as well as governance and financials, against a global standard framework.

Sunway Group Chief Executive Officer of Digital and Strategic Investments Evan Cheah

Sunway Group Chief Executive Officer of Digital and Strategic Investments Evan Cheah said, “Achieving this Gold Status, in conjunction with our 50th anniversary this year, is a clear endorsement of what we are doing at Sunway.

Our commitment to nation-building, the sustainability agenda and the pursuit of excellence are distinct qualities that put us in a rare category of companies globally that continue to thrive after 50 years in operation.

I’d like to acknowledge the dedication of our 16,000-strong staff as we look to the next 50 years of growth and excellence.”

As Sunway celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, the group remains committed to advancing the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and continues to align them with Environmental, Social, and Governance targets as part of the group’s corporate strategy and social responsibility.

Sunway stands out as the first in Malaysia and among the first in Southeast Asia to implement an internal carbon pricing framework, among other innovative strategies and practices to drive progress towards the sustainability agenda and achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050.

Deloitte Southeast Asia Best Managed Companies Leader CHUA How Kiat said, “The winners of Best Managed Companies awards stand out for their innovation, purpose-driven value creation, industry leadership, commitment to sustainability, active talent engagement and customer-centric mindset.

Having witnessed the evolution of the winners through the awards process, particularly for those who have participated over recent years, it is remarkable to see how they have raised the bar for success among private businesses in the region.”

The Best Managed Companies programme was established in 1993 in Canada and has become the most significant business award of its kind. The programme is active across 46 countries in Asia Pacific, the Americas, Europe and Middle East, and is launching across Africa.
