Six Nights In Bayview Hotel Georgetown Penang

Room types available @ Bayview Georgetown Penang & the prices

The last week of June was spent in Penang and I stayed for 6 nights @ Bayview Hotel Georgetown Penang on, a stone’s throw from the famous E & O Hotel. I remember Bayview from my childhood days in the 80s, the hotel looks exactly the same as if time has stood still. Perhaps it should have had a face lift years ago but I guess that if they had renovated, the price wouldn’t be lower than some hotels in that same area. The lobby and room does look outdated but you get what you pay for and I have no major complaints as my stay there was relatively pleasant.

I hardly have cause to complain because although my friend had booked me into a Superior Room, the sheer size of my room was too big to be a Superior, I hazard a guess that it was in fact a Deluxe. The room was far too spacious to be just a Superior. I had a view of the front of the hotel which faces the illustrious St. Xavier’s Institution.

King size bed
Work desk
Dressing table ( a bit dim even when light is on)
It is a spacious room
Washroom
Bathtub has another shower
Shower stall
Bathroom amenities

The shampoo and body wash came in little tubes rather than refillable bottles, quality is just average. The toilet roll was really small and although I didn’t have diarrhea during the duration of my stay, the tooilet roll barely lasted 24 hours with normal use. I had to resort to using the tissues from the box on the sink. Yes, I could have called housekeeping but couldn’t be bothered since the tissue box was available.

The bed was comfortable and I had a good night’s sleep every night. Breakfast was average, the best items were the croissants (available every other day) and the egg station where we could have eggs any which way we liked. Their omelets were delicious especially when paired with the croissants.
