Malaysian flavors took center stage yesterday as SHANTEA Dessert celebrated the grand opening of its first outlet at Mid Valley Megamall, introducing a modern twist on beloved local ingredients.

The launch comes at a timely moment, aligning with the nation’s preparations for Visit Malaysia 2026, where culinary tourism is set to play a key role in attracting visitors. By weaving local flavors into contemporary creations, SHANTEA Dessert introduces Malaysian culture through dessert to international audiences, many of whom may be discovering it for the first time.

“Malaysia’s culinary heritage is one of our greatest treasures, and initiatives like SHANTEA Dessert help showcase it to the world in new and exciting ways,” said Teresa Kok, the member of parliament for Seputeh who graced the event. “With Visit Malaysia 2026 just around the corner, this concept plays an important role in introducing our rich flavors to tourists who may be discovering them for the first time.”

The Mid Valley outlet is the first of three planned stores, with nationwide expansion and future regional ventures in the pipeline.

Nevinn Leow, Managing Director of SHANTEA Dessert, said, “What excites us most is seeing people’s reactions when they try our desserts for the first time. Whether it’s the comfort of familiar flavors or the surprise of something new, SHANTEA Dessert is about creating moments of joy that people will remember.”

At its core, SHANTEA Dessert is more than just a dessert brand. Built on three guiding principles: Honest Ingredients, Heritage at Heart, and Modern Delight, carrying forward the Shan philosophy of nourishing cuisine through time-honored ingredients and botanical wisdom. Each creation reimagines treasured elements such as bird’s nest, tau fu fah, lotus seeds, peach gum, fish scale collagen, and coconut into desserts and drinks that balance wellness with indulgence. Designed to delight the palate while reminding us of the value of everyday nourishment, SHANTEA Dessert embodies the belief that wellness can be both beautiful and joyful.

Born from this philosophy, SHANTEA Dessert outlets are designed as calm yet vibrant sanctuaries; lifestyle spaces for today’s mindful consumers seeking balance, beauty, and cultural connection in every bite. The menu spans signature desserts, teas, milk teas, and Glow Fresher beverages, with highlights including the Mango Coco Mochi Hug, Musang King Coco Cloud, and Coconut Longjing Bird’s Nest.

To celebrate its grand opening, SHANTEA Dessert is adding an extra treat for its guests — the first 100 customers on 2, 3, and 4 October 2025 will receive a complimentary Bird’s Nest drink, a signature highlight from the menu.
