Our last stop on day 3 of the tour was at a carpet showroom in Cappadocia. Also a chance for a toilet break after visiting the various valleys/rock formations. I don’t know how many tour groups they receive per day but since the carpets are worth several thousand USD each, all it takes is for one sale and the local tour guide would probably have made quite a bit of commission for steering his tour group there.

We were ushered into a big room where we sat in a circle and were shown dozens of their carpets, all of which are exquisite of course. Included in the price was the delivery charge and insurance. We could touch and walk on the carpets to get a feel of their superior quality. Good try but too bad, no one in my group bought one. It’s not like buying cheap trinkets and souvenirs. It’s not every day that one can spend thousands of USD on a carpet, no matter how incredibly beautiful it is.
After leaving the showroom, we were given the option of getting off the bus in the city centre. Most of the influencers including my champion snorer roommate got off, much to my delight and relief which meant I could grab at least an hour of uninterrupted sleep. That was the happiest afternoon of my tour.
