Just when you think we have enough Korean beauty brands in Malaysia to choose from, hold that thought because Charmzone has joined the fray. You never know what new brands you may discover as you trawl through the beauty halls of department stores. So I was thinking “same old, same old” when I walked through Isetan KLCC last week and then stumbled upon Charmzone from Korea which was founded 30 years ago.

Before founding the Charmzone cosmetics company, Kwang Seok Kim was a pharmacist. His specialty was in the field of dermatology. He owned and managed his own pharmacy for 20 years. His expertise and experience became the foundation for the Charmzone cosmetics company. His initial strategy was to give away a large amount of free samples. Obviously that strategy worked becaise in three years, Charmzone became a profitable company.

In 1987, they entered the American market in Chicago and Hawaii. In 1992, they were able to pass the world’s most rigorous and complicated set of standards to obtain a license to sell their cosmetics in Japan. Charmzone became the first Korean cosmetics company to successfully enter the Japan market. Presently, they actively export to countries like the US, China, Czech, Austria, Australia, Canada, Taiwan, South Africa, and many others.

Charm In Cell is Charmzone’s prestige range of skincare. It’s targeted at women in their 30s to 40s. There are 3 lines within Charm In Cell – cleansing line, basic line and special line. The star product/bestseller in the Charm In Cell range is the Cream which has anti-aging and brightening properties.

All the Charm In Cell products contain Vitamin C & E derivatives for brightening, Fucoldan ingredients from the French natural reserve of Ouessant Island for moisturizing effect, Totarol extract from Totara trees in New Zealand and Charmzone’s patented ingredients such as soybean peel, persimmon leaf extracts and Ulmus davidiana extracts.

The Cream is thick, rich and very moisturizing. I can still feel the softness of my skin hours after it’s been applied. It might be a bit too dense for those with oily skins. It has a unique botanical scent which I like. A little of this Cream goes a long way and at RM1300 for 60ml, it should stretch to at least 3 months’ usage.

Review is based on 10ml sample of the Cream.
