TGV Cinemas To Open More IMAX® Theatres

Mr. Kenny Wong, CEO of TGV Cinemas

At the “berbuka puasa” event with members of the media at TGV Sunway Pyramid on 31st July 2012, TGV Cinemas announced its extended partnership with  IMAX® Corporation which will see more IMAX theatres opening in other premier locations in Malaysia. TGV Cinemas will launch its second IMAX® theatre in a new construction project in Bandar Utama by October 2012 with the third theatre opening in December 2012 in Tebrau, Johor Bahru. The fourth and fifth IMAX theatre systems will also be located in new construction projects in the cities of Penang and Kuala Lumpur, which are slated to open by December 2013 and December 2015 respectively.

“Our first IMAX theatre here at Sunway Pyramid has been a tremendous success and we are keen to build on this momentum with the recent partnership with IMAX® by introducing seven additional IMAX® theatre systems in Malaysia, bringing a total to eight!” enthused Kenny Wong, CEO of TGV Cinemas.

The exciting buzz on an upcoming new cinema that has kept everyone on their toes is TGV One Utama. TGV One Utama will open its doors to the public by September this year and it will be the flagship cinema in Malaysia.

“We envision that TGV One Utama will set a whole new era and a distinctive benchmark in the local cinema industry. TGV One Utama will see new concept developments introduced to our customers as our continued passion in providing the best and most unforgettable cinema experience to our customers,” added Kenny Wong.

Apart from additional IMAX® theatres, new cinema launches at premium and strategic locations nationwide are also in the pipeline. Customers can expect new cinema openings that are closer to their homes in Setia Walk, Cheras Sentral, Station 18 Ipoh and Bukit Indah Johor Bharu by the end of 2012 and 2013.
