Jaya Grocer, through its private-label brand Jaya Grocer Selection (JS Brand), announced the official Halal Certification of its JS Meats range. The certification extends Halal assurance beyond sourcing to the relevant meat processing and handling operations at Jaya Grocer’s Central Kitchen, which are now certified by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).
Building on its sourcing of meat from Halal-certified suppliers, the new Halal certification awarded to JS Meats further strengthens transparency and customer confidence in the range, throughout the journey from source to shelf. With more than 150 SKUs spanning steaks, sausages, patties, and other meat selections, JS Meats is a key range under the JS Brand, available across 63 Jaya Grocer outlets nationwide.
The milestone was marked at Jaya Grocer KL East Mall, at an event attended by Imran Abd Rahman, Senior Assistant Director, Advocacy Division, Halal Hub, Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM); alongside Daniel Teng, Chief Executive Officer of Jaya Grocer; Joseph Teoh, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Jaya Grocer; Kimberly Xavier, Director of Supply Chain & Fresh Market of Jaya Grocer; and Azari Nazim, Head of Operations, Procurement & Production of Jaya Grocer.
“Halal assurance has been part of the JS Meats journey from the start, beginning with our sourcing from Halal-certified suppliers. This new certification represents the next step in that journey, extending the assurance into our own processing and handling operations,” said Daniel Teng, Chief Executive Officer of Jaya Grocer. “It is about giving customers greater transparency into what happens before the product reaches the shelf, while we continue to uphold the quality and standards they expect from us.”

The certification follows 12 months of preparation, process review and alignment with the Halal requirements applicable to Jaya Grocer’s Central Kitchen. The relevant operations cover the preparation, cutting, handling, and packing of JS Meats before the products reach the shelf.
This work is supported by Jaya Grocer’s in-house meat expertise, including its Master Butcher and specialist Halal Meat team. With more than 18 years of experience in meat preparation and butchery, the Master Butcher works closely with butchers and staff at selected Jaya Grocer outlets, providing hands-on training and guidance on professional cutting techniques, preparation, and handling.

In celebration of the Halal milestone, Jaya Grocer also hosted a “From Cut to Cook” experience at the event, showcasing the expertise and craftsmanship behind JS Meats. The session featured a live meat-cutting demonstration by Jaya Grocer’s Master Butcher, highlighting professional cutting techniques and the preparation of different meat cuts, followed by a hands-on cook-off challenge where participants put their learning into practice.
In conjunction with the Halal certification, special promotions are being offered on selected JS Meats products from 13 to 18 October 2026 at Jaya Grocer outlets nationwide, while stocks last.
