Hock Kee Kopitiam founder, Nick Ng, expressed his vision for Hock Kee Heritage, saying, “More than just a place to dine, Hock Kee Heritage is a destination where people can slow down and experience Malaysia’s heritage through its elegant surroundings, heritage-exclusive dishes, and welcoming atmosphere. We hope every visit feels like stepping into a timeless part of Malaysia’s story.”
Hock Kee Kopitiam today celebrated the opening of its second Heritage Concept outlet at The Gardens Mall, offering a dining experience that celebrates Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and timeless kopitiam traditions. Following the successful debut of its first Heritage Concept outlet at Medan Pasar earlier this year, Hock Kee Heritage continues its journey at The Gardens Mall. Inspired by the timeless elegance of colonial-era Malaysia, Hock Kee Heritage draws inspiration from the grand social clubs that once served as gathering places for society’s elite. Characterised by elegant arches, intricate latticework, Peranakan-inspired tiles, lush tropical greenery and tranquil courtyards, these heritage spaces were once symbols of exclusivity, accessible only to a privileged few.
True to Hock Kee’s spirit of Muhibbah, the Heritage Concept welcomes families, friends, and travellers from all walks of life to experience Malaysia’s heritage around one table. “More than just a place to dine, Hock Kee Heritage is a destination where people can slow down and experience Malaysia’s heritage through its elegant surroundings, heritage-exclusive dishes, and welcoming atmosphere. We hope every visit feels like stepping into a timeless part of Malaysia’s story,” said Nick Ng, founder of Hock Kee.

Celebrating Kopitiam Culture Through Music
The opening was further elevated by a special live performance from local pop group 1119 TRIPLE1NINE, who performed Hock Kee Kopitiam’s original theme song, “KOPITIAM You & Me”, for the very first time. Since its release, the music video has garnered more than 260k views on YouTube, reflecting its strong resonance with audiences and celebrating the warmth of Malaysia’s everyday kopitiam culture.
The collaboration with 1119 TRIPLE1NINE reflects Hock Kee’s commitment to celebrating Malaysian creativity and supporting homegrown talent. Known for transforming everyday moments into engaging performances, the group brought Hock Kee’s vision of Malaysia’s kopitiam culture to life through music and dance. Written and composed by Malaysian artist Danny Koo, “KOPITIAM You & Me” transforms the everyday sights, sounds and flavours of a Malaysian kopitiam into a catchy, relatable anthem that resonates with audiences across all ages.

Founded in Johor Bahru in 2018, Hock Kee Kopitiam has grown into one of Malaysia’s leading kopitiam brands with 22 outlets nationwide. Looking ahead, the brand will continue its expansion with the upcoming opening of its Puteri Hill, Johor Bahru outlet.
