Ahead of its opening on 12 May 2025, fennel & co. held an exclusive preview a few days before where media and guests tried more than a few items from their menu. fennel & co. is located in the leafy neighbourhood of Bukit Tunku. There’s indoor and outdoor seating and is the new hidden gem in that vicinity.
fennel & co. follows halal practices (it has a halal menu) and has such a wide variety on the menu that satisfies every craving and palate. The ambiance is warm and inviting, welcoming diners to leisurely while away the hours with family and friends. This is the place to create memories of bonding and great food.
Every ingredient is selected with intention and each dish is prepared with the same care you’d find in a well-loved home kitchen. Menu highlights include fennel & co.‘s home-made creation, Maca Shuka – a comforting cross between macaroni and shakshuka (a North African dish made of eggs poached in a chunky tomato and bell pepper sauce), French toast a la fennel & co., made with sourdough, coconut cream, and Sarawak’s gula apong and the Biiig Breakfast, featuring Spanish chicken or corned beef sausage, served with sticky onion gravy and roasted garlic mash. For those craving bolder local flavours, the Nasi Serai with tangy Assam Pedas Barramundi, full-flavoured Lamb Curry and Tomyam Prawn Spaghetti offer a spice-rich experience.

These are just some of the items from the menu:

If you are not too hungry, the Biiig Breakfast can be shared.

If you like to start your morning with a poached egg on top of a ham toasted sandwich, then you will love this one.

East meets West in the Tomyam Prawns Spaghetti. There’s generous amount of sizeable prawns in this dish.

Rich, creamy and almost decadent, every spoonful of this is a delight – really one of their best creations and a must-try,

Personally, this is my favourite of all the dishes served as the chicken is tender and moist while the skin is indeed super crispy and tastes better than your regular fried chicken thanks to the coating of oats and buttermillk seasoning. The sauces that complement this are jalapeno, chili lime and gochujang. You might think the sauces are spicy but actually they are not, goes wonderfully with each bite of chicken. The chili lime and gochujang are so good that I recommended they bottle them for customers to purchase.

There’s a black pepper taste to the gravy; this is an ideal dish for meat lovers.

I love pesto pastas and fennel & co.‘s version is just perfect as the sauce is thick, rich and coats every single piece of penne.

The Nasi Serai comes in 2 variations: you can have it with lamb curry or assam pedas barramundi. While I like the lamb curry, I prefer the generous amount of barramundi as it tastes so piquant and the mild sourness of the assam is absolutely pleasing to my palate.

It seemed to be that everyone’s favourite drink of the night was the Matcha Latte as they kept serving this to diners. It’s thick and really has a strong matcha taste.

Desserts include Vanilla Ice Cream with Umami Syrup, Chocolate Hazelnut Tart, Tiramisu Cake, Burnt Cheesecake and Sourdough Carrot Cake. I chose the Raspberry Lychee Tart because it looked the best out of all the desserts, so pretty. Despite all the icing, it isn’t too sweet so I wholeheartedly recommend the Raspberry Lychee Tart.
