Drawing inspiration from floral and organic forms as well as designs and colours of her Peranakan heritage and motifs symbolizing good fortune and wealth comes Tina Degreef’s first solo art exhibition, “Sip & Pour: Oh, What A Life!”. G Art Gallery is excited to shine the spotlight on this unique Penang-born artist who is not only a baker, a chef and a jewellery maker who is trained in computer science but also is an amazing mix media artist. Being a self-thought artist, Tina began exploring mixed media fluid art during the start of the Covid pandemic and has been hooked ever since.
Fluid art or better known as pouring art is not your average technique using a brush or palate knife. The fluid art technique plays with the density of paint mixtures and is poured onto a canvas with gravity moving the paint across. This form of art gives Tina the ability to manipulate paint through pouring, blowing, and other techniques to convey explosions of emotions with the colors. At the same time, the unpredictability of each pour gives a sense of fluidity to the composition, where control and chaos exist in harmonious tandem.
Tina creates exuberantly expressive acrylic fluid art painting in this series that takes simple acrylic pouring art to a new level. She uses up to 7 or 8 different colours in a single canvas, playing with its viscosity to create beautiful patterns. Her work is bound to hypnotize you with the wonderful display of designs, vibrant colours and textures.
G Art Gallery will be showcasing 20 pieces of her fluid art ranging from RM350 to RM3,888. The “Sip & Pour: Oh, What A Life!” series by Tina Degreef will be on display until 21st March 2022 at G Art Gallery, Lobby, G Hotel Gurney.
