Since my friend from Penang was in town for the ELC Friends & Family sale, it was timely to make use of the voucher given to media from the re-opening of Sunway Pyramid Hotel for a one night stay in their Deluxe Executive room which is more spacious than their Deluxe room. While the Deluxe rooms are 24-30 sq m, the Deluxe Executive rooms are 33-40 sq m.
The newly renovated hotel reflects functional design that incorporates Malaysian inspired textures, bold patterns and vibrant colours. I find the ambiance very cheerful and contemporary. Some hotels in this town can be rather dreary and badly in need of a makeover.
Nice to have additional space in a room and in this Deluxe Executive room, there is space for guest to seat themselves but no dressing/writing table. The view overlooks the main entrance of the hotel so you can watch guests arriving and leaving. Good connectivity to Sunway Pyramid Mall via Taste Enclave. Upon check-in, I was informed that breakfast would be at the adjacent Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa Resort Cafe.
Soft drinks in the mini bar are complimentary. There are coffee and tea sachets too.
The only thing I didn’t like about the room was the toilet bowl’s positioning as it is wedged between the wall, not much leg space as there is a wall in front and next to it. It wasn’t that comfortable for me, never mind taller people.
