Forget About The Heat When You Tuck Into The Icy Treats At FROZEN

Opened two years ago, FROZEN Ice Cream Café at Telawi Bangsar is one of the 3 FROZEN outlets in the Klang Valley, the other two are ocated at Paradigm and Berjaya Times Square. It’s busy and chaotic outside at Telawi Bangsar but as soon as you enter FROZEN’s door, you forget the heat and crowds outside as you are transported into an oasis of mouth-watering icy treats comprising Petit Gateaux and artisan ice creams produced by FROZEN’s talented team of pastry chefs.

The bestsellers from FROZEN’s regular range of Petit Gateaux are:

  1. The King RM22 – Musang King Durian Ice Cream, Coconut Sorbet and Marshmallow
  2. Chocolate Grandeur RM20 – 61% Dark Chocolate Ice Cream, Hazelnut Milk Chocolate Ice Cream, Chocolate Brownie, Dark Chocolate Ganache, Crunchy Chocolate Crepes, Dark Chocolate Shell With 100% Cocoa Nib
  3. Parfum RM25 – Earl Grey Ice Cream, 63% Dark Chocolate Ice Cream, Raspberry Sorbet, Earl Grey Ganache, Almond Sponge

Frankly I was too impressed by the creations to start eating. It took me a long time to cut into them as I didn’t have the heart to cut them up. However I had to review so cut I must! I loved The King the most as it is so cute with the little crown and the eyes. Although I am not a fan of durian, this one didn’t have such an off-putting pungent scent. It was just right and more than the inside, I really loved the green outer which is marshmallow, I am a huge marshmallow fan that’s why. The filling is very generous & it’s much nicer than eating the real durian fruit as I get the taste without getting my hands reeking of durian. I could turn into a durian fan with this creation.

As for Chocolate Grandeur, chocolate lovers may be weeping with joy as it is so wonderfully rich with the goodness of dark chocolate. The brownie crust is hard and crunchy complementing the upper ingredients perfectly. I am not a huge chocolate fan either but I liked this one because the components blended together superbly with every bite.

Among the three, Parfum was my favourite as I love tea and am addicted to anything with tea as the main ingredient. The cream in Parfum is steeped in Earl Grey tea. This one is probably a favourite with ladies as it’s light and just the gateaux to have if you have had a heavy meal beforehand. I loved this one and would have it again. I could definitely taste the tea in it.

Ice Creams - Nuts About You, Strawberry Cheese, Kaya Toast
Ice Creams – Nuts About You, Strawberry Cheese, Kaya Toast

At FROZEN, they have about 18 artisan ice creams available on rotation daily. You can have them in single, double or triple scoops or in tubs. I tried a trio – Nuts About You, Strawberry Cheese, Kaya Toast. My favourite is Strawberry Cheese since I love strawberries and cheese. This one had an abundance of both ingredients. Kaya Toast is a close second favourite and would appeal to those who love local flavours in their ice cream. Which is not to say I didn’t like Nuts About You. I don’t think there is any FROZEN ice cream I wouldn’t like. They are all astonishingly good and I think they will only gain more popularity in time to come.

FROZEN outlets are located at Telawi Bangsar, Paradigm and Berjaya Times Square. They serve the outstanding TWG teas and their coffees are as good as any of the more famous cafes in town.
