Optimax Holdings Berhad’s(“Optimax”) wholly owned subsidiary, Optimax Eye Specialist Centre Sdn Bhd (“OESC”) and MyANGKASA Holdings Sdn Bhd (“MHSB”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Angkatan Koperasi Kebangsaan Malaysia Berhad (“ANGKASA”) yesterday entered into a collaboration agreement to expand access to eye care services among eligible cooperative members and their immediate family members across Malaysia.

The agreement was formalised at a signing ceremony, officiated by Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative, YB Datuk Mohamad Bin Alamin, which was held at Wira Ballroom, Hyatt Place Kuala Lumpur, Bukit Jalil. The agreement builds on the memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties on 9 March 2026.

The agreement will be effective for an initial period of three years and may subsequently be renewed for successive one-year periods, subject to mutual written agreement of both parties. Under the collaboration, eligible cooperative members and their immediate family members will have access to OESC’s eye care services across its nationwide network.

The collaboration covers a range of eye care services, including eye examinations and surgical procedures recommended by qualified ophthalmologists. Both parties will also work together to implement eye health education and awareness programmes to encourage regular eye examinations and raise awareness of the importance of early detection of vision-related conditions.

Both parties view the collaboration as a platform to explore further joint initiatives in future, including eye health awareness programmes, community education and efforts to expand access to eye care services among cooperative members nationwide.

The collaboration also reflects a collaborative approach towards strengthening a service ecosystem that delivers greater benefits to members. MHSB and OESC will continue to work together to ensure the effective implementation and delivery of the agreed initiatives, leveraging ANGKASA’s extensive network and OESC’s eye care expertise.

Optimax Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairman Dato’ Seri Dr. Chen Chaw Min said the collaboration demonstrates the significant potential that can be unlocked by combining eye care expertise with extensive cooperative network.

“We are pleased to partner with MyANGKASA Holdings and ANGKASA to expand access to professional eye care services. ANGKASA’s network of more than 7 million members provides a significant platform for us to work together in raising awareness of the importance of eye health among the cooperative community nationwide.

This collaboration is not solely focused on providing treatment services. We see greater opportunities to jointly develop eye health education and awareness programmes and bring eye care expertise closer to the community,” he said.

ANGKASA President YBhg. Datuk Seri Dr. Abdul Fattah Abdullah said the collaboration reflects ANGKASA’s efforts to continuously expand the benefits available to its members through strategic partnerships with industry players possessing expertise in specialised fields.

“The strength of the cooperative movement lies not only in its large membership base, but also in our ability to build networks and connect members with services and expertise that can add value to their lives. This collaboration with Optimax is an example of how such networks can be translated into benefits that are more closely aligned with the needs of our members and their families.

At the same time, this collaboration creates opportunities for both parties to implement eye health awareness programmes on a wider scale. We want our members not only to have access to services when treatment is needed, but to understand the importance of regular eye examinations and maintaining good eye health,” he said.
