In conjunction with Merdeka Day 2026, 888 Tea & Coffee proudly presents “Bersama Kita Tertarik”, a special musical collaboration celebrating Malaysia’s multicultural identity, rich traditions and the enduring spirit of unity inspired by the nation’s beloved teh tarik culture.
Supported by Tourism Malaysia, the initiative highlights teh tarik as more than a beverage, but as a cultural experience that reflects Malaysia’s diverse way of life. From neighbourhood mamak stalls and kopitiam gatherings to family occasions, teh tarik has long been part of the Malaysian lifestyle, creating spaces where conversations begin, friendships are formed and memories are shared.

As part of Visit Malaysia 2026-2027, 888 Tea & Coffee aims to introduce this iconic Malaysian tradition to a wider international audience, showcasing the culture, hospitality and shared experiences behind every cup. 888 Tea & Coffee is honoured to join Tourism Malaysia as a Strategic Partner in this national tourism initiative, helping to bring a taste of Malaysia to the world and inspire visitors to discover the warmth, diversity and cultural heritage that make the country unique.
Research on Malaysia’s culinary tourism has also highlighted how the preparation and enjoyment of teh tarik, particularly its distinctive “pulling” technique and the social interactions surrounding it create meaningful experiences between locals and tourists. Beyond its role as a traditional beverage, teh tarik offers travellers an authentic glimpse into Malaysia’s warmth, creativity and multicultural heritage.
Mohd Akbal Setia, Deputy Director General (Promotions), Tourism Malaysia, said, “Teh Tarik has become an integral part of Malaysia’s everyday life. From neighbourhood restaurants and kopitiams to homes, teh tarik connects people across communities and generations. This simple beverage has transcended its ordinary role to become a reflection of Malaysia’s culinary heritage, diverse culture and warm hospitality. The rich taste and strong cultural association of teh tarik have become a unique Malaysian experience that can be shared with visitors from around the world, further strengthening Malaysia’s appeal as a leading gastronomy tourism destination globally, in line with Visit Malaysia 2026–2027.”
Alvin Ang See Ming, Executive Director of 888 Tea & Coffee said, “As a homegrown Malaysian brand that began as a family-oriented tea merchant, we have grown through generations while staying true to our roots and the traditions that connect people. We believe beverages are more than just something we enjoy, they are part of our culture, our memories and the moments we share with others. Through ‘Bersama Kita Tertarik’ songs, we hope to celebrate the Malaysian spirit of connection and highlight how a simple tradition like enjoying a cup of teh tarik can bring people closer, regardless of background.”

More than just a song, “Bersama Kita Tertarik” captures the essence of these shared experiences through music and storytelling. The music video brings together three Malaysian music acts representing the nation’s diverse communities — Alif Satar & The Locos, Danny Koo and Kidd Santhe. Each artist contributes their own distinctive musical style, cultural heritage and creative expression, coming together in a powerful collaboration that reflects the beauty of Malaysia’s diversity and the harmony created when different voices unite. The collaboration celebrates the idea that while Malaysians may come from different backgrounds, the traditions and experiences they share form the foundation of a united nation.
Launching ahead of Merdeka Day on 31 August 2026, “Bersama Kita Tertarik” serves as a timely reminder of the values celebrated during Malaysia’s National Day—unity, mutual respect and pride in the nation’s unique identity. In conjunction with the music video premiere, 888 Tea & Coffee also introduces its latest 888 Teh Tarik Malaysia, bringing the familiar taste and experience of Malaysian teh tarik into a convenient format for today’s lifestyle. Developed with a specially crafted formulation of premium tea extract and no artificial colouring, the new blend delivers the smooth texture and aromatic character associated with traditional teh tarik, allowing consumers to enjoy this Malaysian favourite anytime, anywhere.

The launch also reflects 888 Tea & Coffee’s continued commitment to preserving Malaysia’s beverage heritage while evolving to meet the changing needs of consumers. Over the years, 888 Tea & Coffee has expanded its portfolio beyond tea and coffee, offering a diverse range of beverages including instant tea, coffee, breakfast cereal and chocolate malt drinks.
