Sungei Wang Plaza’s annual Mid-Autumn Lantern Parade, was successfully officiated by Yang Berhormat Tuan Fong Kui Lun, Member of Parliament Bukit Bintang on 24 September 2023, starting at 7pm. The event began with an award-winning face-changing performance. “This year marks the seventh anniversary of the Lantern Parade at Sungei Wang Plaza.
Our Mid-Autumn Lantern Parade is much more than a simple celebration; it stands as a testament to Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage. It serves as a platform for us to embrace and cherish our traditions”,
said Mr Joseph Teo, Centre Manager of Sungei Wang Plaza.
This Mid-Autumn Lantern Parade was attended by thousands of people and was kicked off by the Lion Dance Troupe from Persatuan Sukan China Sungai Besi Selangor, the 1st Runner-Up of the 2nd Sungei Wang Plaza National Traditional Lion Dance Competition in 2023. They led a procession of up to 30 lion dance troupes, LED dragon dance, stilt walkers, a marching band, shoppers, and tourists, creating a spectacular scene. Lastly, the Lantern Parade came to a successful conclusion with an amazing Chinese Drumming Performance by VR Drumming Academy which ended with a bang.
In addition, with the Carnival theme, this year’s Sungei Wang Plaza Lantern Parade features all-day carnival games, performances, free gifts, and more activities at the entrance of Sungei Wang Plaza. Besides that, MY Radio announcer Jack Lim, Emely, Aki and Der Ting made special appearances to play
games, give out goodies, and even parade together with the audience with their lanterns.
This largest Lantern Parade in Bukit Bintang is presented by Sungei Wang Plaza and sponsored by Magnum, with MY Radio as the Official Radio, and receives strong support from Yang Berhormat Tuan
