BUILT Custom Burgers Nu Sentral

From The Counter® — the team who created the premium build-your-own burger concept—BUILT® Custom Burgers opened on 13th July 2015 at Nu Sentral Mall in Kuala Lumpur. Serving the same quality, customizable burgers and burgers-in-a-bowl made famous at The Counter® only in a fast-casual environment, BUILT® allows guests to get in and out quickly while watching the team build their respective burger creations along the queue.

I had lunch at BUILT Custom Burgers Nu Sentral (not a sponsored review) yesterday and by 12.30pm, they had a queue of mainly office staff (can tell by the tags around their necks) some of whom had come from not-that-near office buildings.

This is how BUILT works:-

• Step #1 – Pick a Protein (beef, turkey, veggie, chicken)
• Step #2 – Choose a Cheese (American, cheddar, Swiss, jalapeño, mozzarella)
• Step #3 – On a Bun or in a Salad Bowl The choice is yours
• Step #4 – Take your Toppings: Fresh jalapenos, organic mixed greens, sliced cucumbers, sautéed onions, ripened red tomatoes, carrot strings, roasted red peppers
• Step #5 – Sauce is Boss: Marry your choices with any of our housemade sauces, from Roasted Garlic Aioli and Buttermilk Ranch to BUILT® Sweet Sriracha Sauce and Tangy Thousand Island
• Step #6 – Go Big or Go Home: Enhance the burger with one of our premium toppings: sautéed mushrooms, Breakfast Beef or sautéed Anaheim Peppers
• Step #7 – Side Play: Options include French fries, sweet potato fries, tater tots

If you choose just the burger or bowl without a drink and fries, it’s RM19 (excluding GST) and if you choose the set which is customized burger/bowl + drink + fries, it’s RM25 (excluding GST).

The first thing one does is pick either beef, turkey, veggie, chicken and which type of cheese to go on top of the protein. Then you decide whether you want it in a bum or bowl. Next you move along the line and choose whatever vegetables you want together with as many sauces as your heart desires. Premium toppings are available at an extra charge.

The turkey in the bun was slightly dry and The Dude who ordered this said it wasn’t as filling as the burgers at the other burger joint he frequents where the burgers are more or less the same price.

I found my beef patty with Monterey Jack cheese very satisfying. This is probably the 1st time I have tried Monterey Jack which is an American semihard cheese produced with cow’s milk. I chose 4 sauces – Garlic Aioli, Thousand Island, Mayo and Ranch. Delicious and so healthy as I had my week’s quota of greens. I was thinking I could have this again for dinner. The beef is good quality as it’s Angus beef (expensive!).

Located at L4.10 & L4.10AL, Level Four of the Nu Sentral Mall, in Jalan Tun Sambathan, BUILT® occupies 1800 square feet and seats 65.
