Selangor State Government Honours Outstanding Investors At Selangor Investors Appreciation Awards 2019-2022

Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Teng Chang Khim receives the Lifetime Achievement Award

The Selangor State Government, in collaboration with Invest Selangor Berhad, successfully hosted the prestigious Selangor Investors Appreciation Awards 2019-2022 at the Sunway Resort Hotel in Subang Jaya. The event, attended by YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Dato’ Menteri Besar Selangor witnessed the gathering of 1500 esteemed attendees.

The Selangor Investors Appreciation Awards, introduced in 1999, serves as a platform to recognise and honour outstanding investors in the state. It aims to acknowledge individuals, companies and organisations that have made significant contributions to Selangor’s economic growth and development through their investment activities. The awards ceremony was organised once again to celebrate four (4) years of achievement, since it was last organised back in 2019, due to the pandemic.

YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari, Dato’ Menteri Besar Selangor

In his speech, YAB Dato’ Seri Amirudin bin Shari highlighted the importance of the Selangor Investors Appreciation Awards in celebrating the contributions of foreign and domestic investors to the state’s economic success. He expressed his gratitude to the attendees, including industry players, companies, government departments, technical agencies, local councils and representatives from the business community, chambers and embassies for their unwavering support and cooperation.

The 2019-2022 winners were selected based on their Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) approved manufacturing projects in Selangor. The awards were presented in various categories, showcasing exceptional achievements and commitments.

The event also honoured Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Teng Chang Khim for his outstanding leadership and dedication, earning him the Lifetime Achievement Award. This recognition serves as a testament to his exceptional service and invaluable contributions to the state of Selangor.

Selangor’s strategic location, robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, supportive business environment and diverse industries make it the best investment destination in Malaysia. The state continues to attract local and foreign investors who seek a dynamic and thriving business ecosystem, offering tremendous opportunities for growth and success.

Despite the global health and economic challenges faced in recent years, Selangor has seen remarkable investment opportunities and demonstrated resilience as an investment destination. The state recorded significant investments, including RM17.04 billion in 2019, RM18.43 billion in 2020, RM7.51 billion in 2021 and RM12.21 billion in 2022 in the manufacturing sector alone. These investments have created job opportunities, fuelled economic growth and bolstered key industries in Selangor.

Through the organisation of the Selangor Investors Appreciation Awards, the state government aims to encourage and promote investment in Selangor, attract new investors and foster a positive investment climate. It also serves as a platform for networking and knowledge sharing among industry players while creating awareness about the opportunities and potential of investing in Selangor.

The Selangor State Government, through its investment arm, Invest Selangor, maintains an excellent working relationship with all government departments, agencies, companies and partners to ensure Selangor continues to offer a conclusive business for investors and industries.
