Sate Kajang Haji Samuri

If there’s one thing I know very well during the 2 weeks of Chinese New Year, it’s to avoid Chinese restaurants as I don’t want to pay the surcharge. During these 2 weeks, it’s time to try out other restaurants and cuisines.

On the 1st day of CNY, there wasn’t much choice where eateries were concerned since most were closed for the 1st 2 days of CNY. I thought of Sate Kajang Haji Samuri at Damansara Uptown for lunch, surely there’d be plenty of parking and there was. Service was prompt since there weren’t that many customers.

Last Sunday night, I went there for dinner and the situation couldn’t have been more different than 2 weeks ago because the place was packed and people were streaming in to collect their pre-ordered takeaways and there were others waiting for their not pre-ordered takeaways.

This time, I had to wait more than half an hour for the chicken satay and they served the bloke who ordered after me. Hate that! Nothing worse than having to wait longer than someone who ordered after you and it gets worse when one is hungry.

Sate Kajang Haji Samuri @ Damansara Uptown is much easier access than their main eatery in Kajang

However, I have to say the wait is worth it for the generous portions of meat on each stick. The meat is succulent and moist, absolutely yummy especially when dipped into the delicious rich peanut sauce with a good dose of sambal. Slurp!

Good deal as each stick of chicken is 80 sen, a price which hasn’t increased in years. Let’s hope it stays that way!
