On the 16 of March 2022, G Hotel Gurney will temporarily close its doors as it begins an extensive rejuvenation project and is expected to be completed in 2022 itself. The 19-storey, 312 roomed hotel is set to debut a complete transformation of the property’s lobby, bar, food and beverage offerings, as well as public spaces. G Hotel Gurney’s re-imagination keenly propels the building into a new era, bringing an entirely unique and lively atmosphere to Gurney Drive.
Since its inception, G Hotel Gurney’s infamous lobby which was dubbed as the longest hotel lobby in Penang as well as Level 1, housing amazing hang-out spots like G Lounge, Taste Café and meeting rooms being reconstructed to pave way for an exciting transformation to a new playing ground. G Hotel will no longer be just a place to stay but a destination unto itself with the birth of Central@Gurney, the new nexus of food and beverage, lifestyle and entertainment avenues. From brasseries to restaurants, cafes to bistros, casual eateries to fine dining, specialty to themed, Central@Gurney is set to be the new trendy lifestyle culinary icon to meet, dine and chillout. New food and beverage outlets will be invited to open outlets here and current tenants such as Coffee Bean, Miraku and Winter Warmers will stay suit, forming part of Central@Gurney.
The beating heart of G Hotel Gurney will now sit at Level 3 of the hotel. Level 3 will become the epicentre of the hotel, from checking in to holding a quick meeting at the lounge with an afternoon tea set, grabbing a drink at the new bar or going for a quick swim or a gym work out and ending the day with a sumptuous meal at the coffee house. Level 3 will be incorporating the concept of multi-functional schemes changing in function, program and aesthetic with a new water feature that will give guest a calming sensation. As for the Ballrooms and meeting rooms in which events takes place will remain at Level 2.
Tree Bar on the other hand, will be extending its patio and will continue to be serving you amazing beer promotions throughout the renovations. This extension will turn Tree Bar into Penang’s largest alfresco bar that is hotly-tipped as the top favourite hangout spot under the tree with ample seats to accommodate more people and even large groups.
With G Hotel Gurney undergoing renovations from 16 March 2022 onwards, on the same day, their 5-star sister hotel, G Hotel Kelawai will open its doors serving you delicious meals at Spoon, afternoon tea, happy hours at Gravity as well as amazing room promotions at the best rates. Miraku will also be housed on the ground floor of G Hotel Kelawai serving delicious Japanese cuisine.
