OYO Malaysia Expands Options For Physical Distancing And Self-Quarantine During MCO 2.0

01oyo_nstfield_image_socialmedia_var_1590997587In support of national efforts to contain the community spread of Covid-19, OYO is offering accommodation space to businesses in need of temporary staff accommodation, in line with the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC)’s collaboration with the Department of Labour Peninsular Malaysia (JTKSM) to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 due to workplace clusters, caused by limited space for physical distancing. All guests will be accommodated with a sanitised bedroom and bathroom, air-conditioning, TV and WiFi for a safe and comfortable stay. Bookings made from 15 to 23 February will also be eligible for special discounted rates.

The accommodation provided is managed in accordance with OYO’s Sanitized Stays programme, strictly adhering to OYO’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that include a comprehensive hygiene and sanitisation protocol, where all properties are cleaned and sanitised regularly to curb any potential spread of Covid-19. OYO is also collaborating with Unilever to equip participating OYO properties with trusted personal care and hygiene products from Unilever, such as hand sanitiser, hand wash and surface disinfectant. Other SOPs practiced at all OYO properties include minimal touch check-in and check-out processes, robust hygiene and safety training for staff, and strict enforcement of physical distancing to give complete confidence to guests during their self-quarantine period.

Tan Ming Luk, Vice President & Head, OYO Malaysia & Singapore said, “OYO is committed to providing access to clean and affordable living spaces for those who need sufficient space to practice physical distancing or self-quarantine during this time. As responsible citizens, we should play our part to support the ongoing efforts to lower Covid-19 transmission rates in Malaysia. In addition, during this time of limited tourism activity, participating in this programme is another way hotel owners can keep their businesses running until the hospitality industry recovers.”

He added, “With Malaysians needing affordable accommodation options to adhere to the SOPs for self-quarantine, OYO’s Sanitized Stays is well-suited to meet this need. In states like Sarawak, for example, the availability of OYO properties for self-quarantine have been well-received by personnel in the oil and gas industry, where they are able to access affordable and sanitised accommodation when they return from the oil rigs.”

“While we are excited by the Government’s announcement that the vaccination plan for Covid-19 will begin at the end of this month, we are fully aware that the three phases in the plan are expected to only be completed by February 2022, with the target of vaccinating 80% of Malaysian adults within this timeframe . Thus, in the meantime, we should continue to do our part to support preventive measures to flatten the infection curve. For us at OYO, this currently means using our resources to support physical distancing and self-quarantine measures,” concluded Ming Luk.
