More Like A Serum Than Foundation

It took me a long time to try out this Josie Maran Argan Matchmaker Serum Foundation because I had my doubts about whether it’d live up to its claim of self-adjusting to match my exact skin tone. It goes on white, is as lightweight as a serum and because it is formulated with Chameleon Pigments (an innovative color-match technology), it instantly adjusts to each unique skin tone.

Infused with organic Argan Oil, the formula is said to strengthen, nourish and hydrate skin, keeping oily areas shine-free and dry spots naturally moisturized for a completely flawless complexion. It comes in such a small. compact glass bottle that fits neatly into my palm. Although glass, the bottle is very light. A plastic cap covers the pump.

One pump is all I need as the consistency is very fluid, looks more like serum than foundation. It certainly does blend easily and quite well too so that my skin doesn’t look as if there is a layer of foundation on it. It doesn’t appear cakey or thick. It gives my skin a natural look and although coverage is quite sheer (more tinted moisturizer than foundation), I’m quite satisfied with it as it doesn’t feel heavy on my skin. It has a satin, velvety finish.

There are 3 shades available and mine is in the middle shade of Light/Medium. The other shades areFair/Light and Medium/Dark. I am not sure if the darkest shade is even dark enough for our darker skin tones or whether the other shades will successfully adjust to everyone’s skin tones.

So far, so good for me in terms of blendability, coverage and staying power. I use my fingers to apply but Josie Maran recommends using the Josie Maran Foundation Brush 001 which is eco-friendly, has a sustainable wood handle and uses high-grade synthetic fibres.

Like all Josie Maran products, the Serum Foundation is free of parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes and phthalates. It is available exclusively at Sephora retailing at RM159 (30ml).
