Why I Ignore Most Online Offers : Too Good To Be True

screenshot_20190124-195542Those of you who have shopping or other apps on your mobile phones will know what I mean – you get more than a few promotion notifications a day. In fact, I get more than ten from the same company every day. I ignore and delete most of them as they concern products or services I don’t need but every once in a while I will take note of a certain promotion which was what happened when I received an email from Boost Mobile Wallet on 21/1/19 (Monday).

The email stated that it was a 3-day promotion (meaning it would end on 23/1/19 Wednesday) and that I’d get RM5 prepaid credit for RM1. This was applicable to any mobile number. Even better, I was entitled for this offer twice. The first top up I did was on 21/1/19 for a Celcom number. True, I was only charged RM1. Good savings there.

Since the offer was for 3 days, I thought there was no hurry to do the second top up. I was thinking how nice it was of Boost to offer this twice. On 23/1/19, I topped up RM5 for a Digi number and was charged RM5. I think I half expected this to happen. I then emailed their customer service for clarification on 23/1/19 and till now, there is no response.

I wonder why people should bother to email their customer service to get no response. Not even a confirmation that they had received my email and that they were looking into the matter. Just complete silence. I’m going to ignore all their emails from now on.
