When you want to find out more about a brand and its products, the best way is to sit down with one of their consultants or makeup artists. This is exactly what Max Factor did recently, inviting bloggers for a one-to-one session with their trainer and makeover by one of the makeup artists to introduce us to their latest foundation, Max Factor Facefinity All Day Flawless 3-in-1 Foundation.

This season, Global Cosmetics Creative Design Director for Procter and Gamble, Pat McGrath has come up with 3 trends – “Cool, Modern Neutrals”, “Pop Goes Beauty” and “Subversive Chic”. As far as foundation is concerned, the look for this season  is matte. Max Factor’s Facefinity Compact Foundation is a best-seller for the brand since it was introduced 14 years ago.

Max Factor Facefinity All Day Flawless 3-in-1 Foundation made its pre-launch debut at the Valentino Autumn/Winter 2012 show. Here, Pat McGrath, Global Creative Design Director for Max Factor, used it to help create the ‘serene, modern and chic’ beauty look on the beautiful runway models.

Facefinity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation is Max Factor’s first ever 3-in-1 product which combines 3 professional make-up tools in one bottle : a built-in primer to hold, SPF foundation and a concealer to correct.

The foundation primes the skin with a flexi-hold technology which I am told, follows one’s facial movements and avoids cakeyness. I find the texture to be a bit creamier and thicker than the foundations I am currently using but it isn’t at all difficult to spread on my face. It applies well and there is no streaking.

There are micro-correctors within the formula which operate like little mechanics to defend against external influencers like sweat and sebum, correcting and maintaining the look over time whilst preventing shine. Lastly, the foundation formula with SPF20 delivers an all day high coverage, matte finish thanks to the oil absorbency of particles which helps to minimise the level of non-volatiles on the skin surface.

I was delighted at how matte my skin looked with the foundation on and how well it covered my pigmentation spots. Pat McGrath’s tip for applying the foundation is to apply a thin layer after moisturiser, then wipe off the T-zone area with a sponge so that the T-zone has a soft shine for a more natural and dimensional look.

Facefinity All Day Flawless 3-in-1 Foundation can be applied with sponge, brush or fingers. Although I’ve stated that it’s creamier and thicker than the foundations I’ve been using, it feels lightweight on my skin. Coverage is as good as it gets and I don’t need a concealer since the coverage is so full.

There are 6 shades altogether for pink and yellow-based skin tones. My shade is Beige 55 which is the 3rd lightest shade. Beige 55 is pink based as is Pearl Beige 35 & Sand 60. The yellow based foundation shades are Warm Almond 45, Golden 75 & Caramel 85.

Since I was using Beige 55 (yellow based), Facefinity Compact Foundation 02 Ivory (yellow based) was used to set the foundation. There are 4 shades of Facefinity Compact Foundation. 06 Golden is also yellow based while 01 Porcelain and 05 Sand are pink based shades.

I’ll go into the details of the makeover in another post. I am liking this oil-free foundation quite a bit as there’s no slipping throughout the day and it saves me time since I don’t need to apply concealer.

Max Factor Facefinity All Day Flawless 3-in-1 Foundation is available in stores now at RM72/30ml.
