M&M Ventures Holdings Sdn Bhd officially launches the groundbreaking for BEKL, which stands for Bali Escape Kuala Lumpur. BEKL is a new retail park fashioned to bring something extraordinary to the core of Kuala Lumpur’s Golden Triangle with a revolutionary shopping and leisure experience concept. This RM50 million project will turn four acres of prime Bukit Bintang land into an integrated complex with lifestyle, culture, and modern retail in an environment that merges tropical tranquility with the vibrant city life of Kuala Lumpur.

This milestone event marked the first major achievement in constructing this new development, promising to bring a new, excitingly different Balinese-inspired atmosphere to the busy metropolis. Bound to become a tourist attraction as well as a hangout spot for locals and families, BEKL will offer a retail experience like no other retail park in Kuala Lumpur, serving the needs of all with its outdoor dining, high-fashion shops, popular sports centres, artisan bazaars, and artistic spaces.

“We would like to think of BEKL as more than a retail park. It is to be a space to investigate, share, and celebrate. We are out to build a spot that will appeal to those looking for leisure and shopping but, at the same time, offering a special cultural and tropical experience while staying in Kuala Lumpur,” said Chris Stanley, Chief Operating Officer, M&M Ventures Holdings Sdn Bhd during his opening remarks.

Unlike any other retail, BEKL will focus on its goal of developing a place where people can come and enjoy their leisure time. Through its unique “Sun-Up to Sun-Down Bazaar” inspired by the rich cultures of Southeast Asia and the Middle East, where commerce and socialising go on from morning to night, this centre will meet various tastes. This vibrant marketplace will make BEKL a destination for visitors throughout the day, from the early risers to the day trippers to the evening shoppers, and it will function as a full-day community hub in the city.

“At Sportizza, we are looking forward to working with BEKL in the redefinition of the leisure, health, and community intersection. Merging innovative sports activities into the vibrancy of the tropical ambience at BEKL creates an all-inclusive environment that inspires active lifestyles and fosters meaningful connections. With active programs such as the ‘Sun-Up to Sun-Down Sports Clinics’ and other community-driven events, we believe BEKL can be a place where unique combinations of wellness, culture, and sustainability are enjoyed by families, youth, and visitors alike,” said Chiew Chun Yong, Director of Sportizza.

“At International Food Hall, we are proud to bring BEKL into our ‘Food Connect’ concept, a brought-together mix of cuisines that are Muslim-friendly to showcase multicultural Malaysia. We also hope that with a mix of authentic local and international flavours, it will be a community hub where people will come to connect, discover, and share through food.”. From power breakfast variants to specially crafted dinner items, our adaptable dining experience ensures that every guest feels welcomed, whether early birds or night crawlers. This vision gelled seamlessly with the dynamic concept of BEKL, ‘Sun-Up to Sun-Down Bazaar’, further amplifying its already vibrant and tropical ambience,” said Adrian, Director of International Food Hall.

“At Abeh Mart, we’re committed to offering quick access to everyday essentials while showcasing the best of Malaysian products, with 70%–75% of our inventory locally sourced to meet the needs of both local shoppers and international tourists. Meanwhile, Caffè Lusso brings a touch of Italian sophistication to BEKL’s tropical paradise, offering expertly crafted espressos, refreshing gelato, and a welcoming space to recharge and connect. Together, Abeh Mart and Caffè Lusso contribute to BEKL’s vibrant and dynamic setting, blending convenience, culture, and craftsmanship to create a truly unique experience for visitors,” said Somsak Tan, the owner of both Caffè Lusso and Abeh Mart.

Sportizza, International Food Hall, Abeh Mart, and Caffè Lusso represent the manifestation of BEKL’s vision into one big, breathing community hub. Sportizza inspires active lifestyles with its innovative sports programs; International Food Hall connects visitors to the rich multicultural flavours of Malaysia.

Completing the experience are Abeh Mart’s locally-focused essentials and Caffè Lusso’s Italian sophistication with effortless cool-all perfectly encapsulated by the dynamic ‘Sun-Up to Sun-Down’ concept of BEKL, setting it as a holistic destination to celebrate wellness, culture, and convenience.

Located at the heart of the rapidly developing Golden Triangle, BEKL is assured to become a premier destination that will further strengthen Kuala Lumpur’s position as a major retail and tourism hub. It will be an economic driver, a job provider, and a platform on which businesses will thrive. Sustainably designed, BEKL will also be about environmental and cultural conservation, making it an exciting new benchmark in urban development for the region.

Chris added, “We are thrilled to acknowledge other tenants signed up for BEKL, such as Sportizza, International Food Hall, Abeh Mart, Caffee Lusso, etc., as their partnership would be cardinal to the success of the project. Their commitment to the venture will uplift the variety of offerings and experiences that we would want to give.”

The park is expected to be open in the third quarter of 2025 and is foreseen to change the experiences of retail and lifestyle in Malaysia. The tropical landscape of BEKL, together with its modern architectural style, will attract visitors with a unique experience from the hustle and bustle of city life into serenity within a tropical-themed environment. The groundbreaking ceremony was also witnessed by Dominic Tan, Chief Executive Officer, M&M Ventures Holdings Sdn Bhd.
